Poems
Approbations 351
—after Bill Evans’ Peace Piece
Watch.
Dusk
unfolds her graying locks,
finding home on branch,
leaning grass,
shadows forgotten
by the steps of travelers
aiming west.
Glowing breath
of fireflies’ ignition:
this
is the pivoting culture
inviting ghosts
into the psyche of neoteric
revelations.
Approbations 489
—after Marilyn Crispell’s Gathering Light
Hand’s alone
light
sifts through fingers’ finger-width
departure
from ascertaining hold, grip
performing renewed holding, a brand of touch
not
yet
fashionable: embracing between two lovers
combining flesh and braided voice, happily. In hands of
soil’s presumed dirty region, light
befriends
with holy connotations, thus
delineating realism’s corporeal
experience
from hypothesis’ rendition of scientific
hokum.
Approbations 490
—after John Surman’s Wayfarers All
We meander.
Fall, alone. Together, too, fall
past love, beyond notions
the self resumes
following acrobatic tributes
to the awakened state of dawn’s
presentational
collage.
Approbations 491
—after Marc Johnson’s In A Quiet Place
Sounds rise
twirling praise, resisting contravention’s changes
ascending
from the lake’s orchestrated lumbar
allowing
feed and birthing bathers
to
conceal obligatory blur
hiding within the beneath symphony of
wave, space conceptual understanding.
Approbations 492
—after Joshua Redman’s Wish
Or, planted verbs
skating
distant mouth open geography
windowed, personal
diameter of sound
relevant upon cultural procession, deliberate
mention of hankering’s
subliminal
value.
